Michael Darre, Ph.D


Assoicate Professor of Animal Science

Dr. Darre recieved his B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1981.

Dr. Darre is an exemplary instructor who stands out for his dedication to his students and colleagues. He teaches numerous courses which recieve excellent student evaluations, he devotes evening and weekend time to his students, and he broadens the teaching mission of his department and college. Dr. Darre believes "teaching is both a science and an art that take time, persistence and patience to perfect." His implementation of his belief system is strongly reflected in his sucessful experiencal learning based classrooms, and is a component of his extensive service to the university community and beyond. Dr. Darre has recently collaborated on research to produce immunity against aflatoxins in poultry.
