Dr. Barker recieved his B.Eng. and Ph.D in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Sheffield University, England. He joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1984 following a sabbatical year, 1982-1983.

Keith Barker has been an engineering educator throughout his academic life. From early beginnings he taught faculty to teach with technology at the University of Sheffield in 1969 and created computer-based assessments in his digital logic class. In the early 90’s he developed a web-based online delivery system before WebCT was published and took part in several national programs for innovative computer science education. He is nationally known for his work in computer science accreditation.

As reflected in his numerous publication and awards, Dr. Barker is viewed as an outstanding teacher, a strong proponent of excellent teaching, a dedicated mentor and faculty supporter, and one who believes in the importance of undergraduate education.
