Katharina von Hammerstein

Dr. von Hammerstein recieved her M.A from the University of Southern California and her Ph.D from the University of California, Los Angeles. She joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1991.

Dr. von Hammerstein's teaching is characterized by an ability to bring her zeal of teaching into all of her scholarly endeavors. Besides coordinating Teaching Assistants in an official capacity, she continues to structure her graduate classes around student presentations, and working closely with students before and after presentations to discuss pedagogical strategies. Dr. von Hammerstein has had a central role in many outreach programs, such as the Linkage through Language program, funded by the NEH. Colleagues and students alike comment on her dedication and preparation in the classroom. Dr. von Hammerstein's publication and conference record reflect an equal dedication to scholarship.
