Janine Caira, Ph.D


Professor, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology


Dr. Caira recieved both her B.S and M.S from the University of British Colombia, and her Ph.D from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Caira joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1985.

Dr. Caira's undergraduate and graduate teaching is characterized by innovation and infectious enthusiasm. Her well prepared and inspiring lectures are complimented by well thought out and frequently updated laboratory sessions. Dr. Caira is readily available to students as a mentor and supporter. Her work in the laboratory and classroom is based upon her research program in Platyhelminth systemics, development, and phylogeny, which is heavily funded by the NSF.
