Douglas Cooper, Ph.D


Professor of Chemical Engineering

Dr. Cooper recieved his B.S from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, his M.S. from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. from theUniversity of Colorado, Boulder. He joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1985.

Dr. Cooper has had a far reaching and broad impact on engineering education. Not only recogonized for the development of a software tool and accompanying text used to teach process control education to undergraduate engineering students at more than 120 universities in over 25 countries, Dr. Cooper is known for his excellence in the classroom. He has created technology that allows the real world to be brought into the classroom. Thus, students and faculty can more easily apply textbook concepts to real world problems. He not only facilitates real world problem solving but also real world professional development as a thoughful, caring and engaged student mentor. Dr. Cooper's novel and award winning approach to instruction is making a significant impact on the life-long learning of not only students, and faculty, but also on industrial practitioners around the world.
