University Teaching Fellow, 01-02
Andrew Rosman, Ph.D

Associate Professor, Accounting
Director, MS in Accounting Program and Internship

Dr. Rosman recieved his B.B.A. from Hofstra University and his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1989.

Dr. Rosman has distinguished himself at all levels of teaching, from undergraduate through dissertation direction and beyond. One important part of his teaching, noted by colleagues and students alike, is his stress on the role of writing in the classroom as a preparation for future needs. Using detailed course handouts, he effectively models successful writing and he also provides carefully structured writing assignments early and often in his teaching. Students are also impressed by his innovative in-class techniques, such as group interaction tasks. Such methodologies foster in his students a sense of professionalism, not just a mastery of material. Dr. Rosman’s mentoring skills and enthusiasm also gain praise. Again and again, students gratefully acknowledge his guidance and support at many levels. Andy serves as the only advisor for the MS in Accounting Program, a large task in and of itself, while also serving on dissertation committees and overseeing other mentoring situations. But his mentoring does not stop there; many students seek his advice and help with their careers long after they have left UConn, and they happily report that Dr. Rosman continues to be a valued mentor, as well as a colleague and a friend. His philosophy as a teacher is to "make a noticeable difference"; and from the positive influence he’s had on students and colleagues, Dr. Rosman’s teaching clearly lives up to his expectations.
