Seaweed Marine Biotechnology Lab

Under the direction of Dr. Charles Yarish, the Seaweed Marine Biotechnology Lab is a premier research facility enabling the University to be a center of phycological research in North America. Some of the specialized equipment includes: 12 incubators for seaweed culture, microscopy equipment with video and photomicroscopic capability, 60 mesocosms, Nori and kelp open water farm culture modules. Analytical equipment includes: Perkin Elmer CHN-S elemental analyzer, Perkin Elmer HPLC, Applied Biosystems Thermocycler for PCR, Perkin Elmer UV-VIS and Spectrophotometer station.
